The Story of Kirsty & Stanley

Kirsty and Stanley—The Udens—poured heart, meaning, and a deep sense of presence into their outdoor summer wedding at The Orangery in Maidstone. From the moment their wedding letters played over during the morning preparations, it was clear this film would be rooted in storytelling. With the bride’s mother remembered in touching ways throughout the day, every frame carried a weight of love, memory, and meaning. It wasn’t just a wedding—it was a tribute, a celebration, and a new beginning, all beautifully intertwined in their heartfelt wedding film.

The Orangery, Maidstone: The Perfect Wedding Venue for Timeless Celebrations

The Orangery is a venue I know well, and it never fails to deliver elegance with emotional depth. The stunning gardens, serene lake, and natural surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for a day that carried so much meaning. The florals were vibrant and abundant, perfectly complementing the venue’s timeless charm. As the sun set over the water, it created a golden glow that allowed us to craft some of the most beautiful editorial couple shots of the season.

Natural Wedding Videography with a Touch of Romance

Kirsty and Stanley's vision was clear: a romantic, stylised wedding film that didn’t lose the natural, emotional moments. It was about finding a balance between fine-art direction and documentary honesty. From the narrated letters in the morning to their sunset walk by the lake, they wanted a film that encapsulated not only how the day looked, but how it felt. A film that honoured their love story and the people who shaped it —an emotive, authentic wedding film that would stand the test of time.

To ensure their vision was fully realised, I worked closely with their photographer to carve out intentional moments for editorial-style couples portraits. I also spent time with Kirsty and Stanley ahead of the wedding, preparing them for their emotional letter readings—guiding them through how best to deliver and record them for a seamless integration into the film. Throughout the day, I used professional lighting and high-quality audio setups to ensure that every emotional beat—especially during speeches—was captured with clarity and depth.

My Favourite Wedding Videography Moment

Without a doubt, it was capturing the sunset couple portraits by the lake. The light, the reflection, the emotion—all aligned in a way that was as cinematic as it was intimate. The way Kirsty and Stanley held each other, aware of everything and nothing all at once, created moments that needed no direction. It’s these kinds of scenes that anchor a wedding film in something timeless.
