Ellis & Jake’s Intimate & Emotional Celebration Overlooking the South Downs

Watch Ellis and Jake’s intimate, romantic and authentically-them wedding film from the Crown Lodge wedding venue in Wye, Kent.

The Story of Ellis & Jake

Ellis and Jake—The Claptons—shared one of the most emotional and meaningful weddings I’ve ever been privileged to capture. Just two weeks before their wedding at Crown Lodge in Wye, Ellis had a serious accident. The fact that they were able to stand hand-in-hand at the aisle, with their daughter watching on, made this day all the more powerful. Their story is one of survival, devotion, and becoming a family against the odds.

Their wedding was more than just a celebration—it was a quiet, emotional triumph, captured through a film that reflected the vulnerability, intimacy, and depth of their bond.

Crown Lodge, Wye: South Downs Wedding Venue for Woodland Ceremonies

Crown Lodge is perched above the South Downs, offering panoramic views and a peaceful, secluded atmosphere that was perfect for Ellis and Jake’s emotionally charged day. The natural surroundings added a cinematic softness to the footage, especially during golden hour. It was the ideal space for a day focused on love, reflection, and family.

Cinematic Wedding Film with a Focus on Emotions

From the outset, they made it clear: the film was the most important part. They wanted a wedding video that went beyond documentation—a piece of art that reflected the unique depth of their journey. They were open to creative collaboration and trusted me to lead the storytelling, direction, and tone. The goal was to craft a romantic, intimate wedding film that didn’t shy away from real emotion, and most of all, honoured their love and resilience.

Because Ellis and Jake placed such importance on their wedding film, I took on the role of creative director and on-the-day coordinator. I structured the flow of events to make space for quiet, cinematic moments, including: organising and directing their golden hour shoot, guiding them to a stunning viewpoint across the road for breathtaking South Downs footage, coordinating their sparkler exit and also capturing their personalised vows with professional audio and lighting.

This level of involvement meant we were able to shape a wedding day that felt both deeply personal and visually extraordinary.

My Favourite Moment as Their Videographer

Taking Ellis and Jake across the road to look out over the rolling hills of the South Downs was a standout moment. The serenity, the way they held each other, the quiet joy of simply being there after everything they’d been through—it was the kind of shot that holds all the emotion with no words needed. It was the perfect expression of the intimacy they wanted in their film.

“I've had many bridal party members commented how he brought great energy, put everyone at ease and ultimately just felt part of the group on the day!

And then there is the film, wow wow wow - we feel like movie stars! We're still bewildered how he got certain shots, and the way he has created a narrative using our ceremony, vows, and speeches is a masterpiece - every detail is so thoughtfully curated.

You won't regret booking Luke, and the videos will take you back to a day that goes by way to fast again and again and again!”
